Admission Requirements
You must be 12 years of age or older to register.
Learn about firearm safety. Successful completion of this course will permit you to hold or apply for a Saskatchewan game licence if you are 12 years of age or older. It will also allow you to apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) Non-Restricted when you are 18 years of age or older.
To be eligible to apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL), classroom participation in the full CFSC is mandatory for first-time licence applicants. Once the course is completed, individuals will then have to pass the tests.
Please note that to hunt in Saskatchewan, if you were born after Jan. 1st, 1971, you must take the Saskatchewan Hunter Education Program as well as this course.
The topics covered include the following: the evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions; basic firearms safety practices; ammunition; operating firearm actions; safe handling and carry procedures; firing techniques and procedures; care of non-restricted firearms; responsibilities of the firearms owner/user; and, safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted firearms.
