You must be 18 years of age or older, medically fit and have a Valid Driver's Licence and a 1A Learner's permit.
Truck Driver Mandatory Entry-Level Training (1A)
This 4-week program includes 121.5 hours of classroom, yard and on-the-road instruction. You’ll learn driving techniques, professional driving habits, how to use air brakes, and more. When you complete this program, you’ll be prepared to attempt the Class 1 Road Test.
To encourage new Class 1 truck drivers to remain and work in Saskatchewan, the Government of Saskatchewan has announced the Class 1 Truck Driver Training Rebate Program. This program provides financial support, a grant of up to $5,000, to help individuals with the cost of obtaining mandatory entry-level training (MELT). The grant is paid out to eligible applicants over five consecutive years, $1,000 annually, after training is completed. Click the link to learn more.
