Advancing Water and Wastewater Training Together

May 30, 2025

Working with Touchwood Agency Tribal Council and the First Nations of Day Star, Fishing Lake, Kawacatoose, George Gordon, and Muskowekwan, Carlton Trail College was pleased to deliver a unique Pathways to Water and Wastewater Careers program to interested individuals this spring. Over nine weeks, participants received specialized training in safe municipal and community waterworks operations.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on learning, individuals gained valuable safety certifications and practical experience, preparing them for careers in water and wastewater management. The program supported both personal growth and community capacity, contributing to long-term sustainability as well as community health.

This initiative reflected a strong partnership and shared commitment to empowering Indigenous communities through education and workforce development. Carlton Trail College is proud to have played a role in supporting these outcomes and the dedicated individuals who completed the program.
