Carpentry Students Build Skills for Real-World Success

Jun 03, 2025

Over the 2024-25 academic year, Carlton Trail College’s carpentry students were busy applying their skills through hands-on projects that reflected real-world construction demands. In Humboldt, students completed two concrete forming builds – a grade beam and house footings for a small structure – gaining valuable experience with Strip-Ease forms, pile placement, and stake preparation. These projects helped students develop confidence in building and installing formwork, a key skill in the construction industry.

Meanwhile, senior students in the partnered carpentry program with Horizon School Division in Punnichy framed and finished a chicken coop, which will be donated to Bulyea Elementary School to support agricultural learning. As the programs wrapped up, students from both sites prepared to take their skills beyond the classroom and into the workforce.

With strong ties to labour market needs and a focus on practical learning, Carlton Trail College is proud to support students as they build toward meaningful careers in the trades.
