The Personal Care Worker program prepares participants to support individuals who rely on compassionate, skilled care in community, home care, and healthcare settings. This hands-on training equips you with the knowledge, practical skills, and industry-recognized certifications needed to succeed in a high-demand field.

The program emphasizes client-centred care, cultural respect, and community wellness, while supporting participants in building confidence, professionalism, and job-ready skills for meaningful employment.

You’ll develop the skills required to provide safe, respectful, and ethical personal care services, including:

  • Foundational skills for personal care work
  • Professionalism and ethical responsibilities in caregiving
  • Safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate client care
  • Effective communication with clients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Workplace safety and infection control practices
  • Basic computer skills to support documentation and job readiness
  • Infection Control & Safety
  • And more

Plus, you’ll earn these certifications:

  • Transfer, Lift & Reposition (TLR)
  • Professional Assault Response Training (PART)
  • WHMIS
  • Standard First Aid & CPR C
  • Basic Computer Skills (email, documentation, workplace readiness)

This program is open to TATC members. Those who qualify may be eligible to receive funding/incentive pay.
