Applications are now open for the 2026 BHP Jansen Scholarship Program.
Now in its 14th year, the program is a collaborative partnership between BHP and Carlton Trail College. It offers scholarship funding to assist students pursuing post-secondary education, including university, college, trades, and skills training programs.
“BHP is pleased to continue supporting local students in their educational pursuits and pathway to not just a job, but a rewarding career. Since the program began, we have supported more than 370 students in furthering their education. Saskatchewan is a province rich in talent and in opportunity and this program helps many meet their potential,” said Karina Gistelinck, BHP’s Potash Asset President.
“This scholarship program plays an important role in helping students take their next step toward post-secondary education and training,” said Amy Yeager, Carlton Trail College President and CEO. “We know BHP has a passion to support the future workforce in Saskatchewan and we are pleased to be partnering with them to expand the opportunities within the region”.
The 2026 program invites applications from students in eligible schools and communities and Band members of participating First Nations. This year the program has expanded its eligibility to include First Nations and Métis learners who are residing in the area who are not band members of eligible First Nations.
Since 2012, BHP has awarded more than $980,000 in scholarships, including $124,500 in 2025 to students from 30 communities and six First Nations. The program has continued to expand, reflecting regional growth and program interest.
A recent scholarship recipient, Tristan Nordick, commented, “With a heavy course load in engineering, my ability to work is limited during the school year. This scholarship helped with books and essential supplies, allowing me to stay financially stable and focused on my studies. I’m grateful to BHP whose support made this possible.”
Applications close on 31 May 2026.
