Carlton Trail College was proud to be a partner in the inaugural Humboldt Partnership Powwow, held June 18, 2026 at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt. Organized in partnership with George Gordon First Nation, the City of Humboldt, and Horizon School Division, the event celebrated Indigenous culture, community and learning under the theme Honouring the Land and Our Relations.
The powwow welcomed students, families, Elders, dancers, drummers and community members from across the region for a day of cultural celebration and connection. Activities included the Grand Entry, traditional dancing and drumming, special dances, food vendors, and an artisan marketplace.
As a planning partner, Carlton Trail College contributed volunteer support and event programming, reflecting the College’s ongoing commitment to Indigenous engagement, relationship-building, and the Truth and Reconcilation Commission’s Calls to Action.
The event marked an important milestone for the community and demonstrated the value of partnerships in creating opportuities for cultural learning and understanding across the region.
