Community Workforce Development Program Meets Local Labour Need

Apr 05, 2024

With federal funding provided by Employment and Social Development Canada, along with the support of the Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance, Carlton Trail College participated in a pilot Community Workforce Development Program (CWDP) over 2023-24 that aimed to foster collaboration between employers, training providers, community organizations and others.

Within the Humboldt-Jansen region, four distinct training programs were offered that aligned to needs communicated by industry and community partners: At Work English Language Training, Construction Labourer, Electrician and Power Mobile Equipment/Forklift Operator.

76 individuals participated in these College-coordinated and funded training opportunities, with a 95% successful completion rate. 25 regional employers and 1 trade union were also connected to participants during this process.

Thanks to work undertaken as part of this initiative, we are optimistic for expanded partnerships to help meet ongoing labour market demand across our region.
