Our Initiatives

Special activities that enhance the educational, cultural and socio-economic health of our region.

50th Anniversary

Providing exceptional learning opportunities for over 50 years.

50 Years Bold

Carlton Trail College has served the needs of learners in Saskatchewan’s east-central region since 1973.

Today, our learning area provides over 100 communities with access to Post-Secondary Education and Trades Training, Academic Upgrading and Essential Skills Courses, English Language Training, Continuing Education as well as a range of industry and workforce development opportunities.

And, just as the original Carlton Trail route carried important items, messages and people across the prairies, we carry the commitment to empower our learners with the skills and knowledge needed  to face an ever-changing world.

Celebrating the Present

During our 2023-24 year, we proudly marked 50 years of service through a variety of activities, entertainment and engagement opportunities.

From hosting Community Appreciation events at our campus locations to celebrating in style at our formal 50th Anniversary Celebration, we shared how our achievements and impact make a difference across our region.

Remembering the Past

During our 50th year, we created a 50 Moments Over 50 Years campaign to share our history, photos and other notable activities through our digital channels.

Capturing information to share was a unique undertaking as we combed through five decades of College photos, files and related records. A special archival deposit marking this milestone will help ensure that this history is not lost over time.

If you’re curious about our past, check out Carlton Trail College’s social media for Throwback Thursday/#TBT posts highlighting notable people, programs and aspects of the College’s history in Saskatchewan.

Igniting the Future

Building on the impact we’ve made over the last 50 years, a collaborative, community arts project with regional artists was developed to reflect on the memories and share the aspirations of those connected to our learning community now, and over the years.

Unveiled at the close of our 2023-24 year, a vibrant new mural called Empowerment Rising now resides on the north exterior wall of our Humboldt campus, painted by talented regional artist, Kayla Hanson.

A meticulously-crafted metal sculpture called Shaping Knowledge was also unveiled, created by well-known metal artist and long-time College welding instructor, Murray Cook. As part of this initiative, College members also worked with Murray to incorporate a time capsule into the sculpture that is filled with photos, trinkets, and interesting bits of memorabilia from the past 50 years.

Although many of us may not be here when Carlton Trail College celebrates its 100th anniversary – we hope that these works, activities and memories demonstrate the pride, gratitude and commitment we feel when serving the many communities across our east-central learning region.

Thank you for being a part of this commemorative journey with us!
