The Pre-Apprenticeship Training program, in partnership with BHP, will provide Indigenous participants with employment readiness skills and an introduction to a variety of trades that will prepare them to work and to start their journey through apprenticeship. The program will also play a key role in meeting BHP’s inclusion and diversity goals, addressing the labour shortage in skilled trades and preparing the local labour market for employment. The participants will be paid a wage throughout the duration of the program.
Participants will be introduced to trades that have been identified by BHP to be in high demand during the operational phase.
The trades being offered are electrician, instrumentation and control technician, industrial mechanics/millwright and heavy duty equipment technician. There are a variety of safety tickets and employment readiness training as well.
While there are no pre-requisites for the program, preference will be given to candidates with a grade 12 or GED and a driver’s license. Participants will be required to pass a drug and alcohol screen and fit for work assessment.Location: | PUNNICHY |
