ECE Sask Polytechnic Diploma – Part-time Courses

Discover how to support children as they learn through play. Learn about child development, child guidance, and how to create quality programming and learning environments. Learn how to create inviting and effective quality learning environments and develop holistic programs that include early literacy and language, creative arts, numeracy and play experiences. You’ll also learn about how children learn through play, child guidance, programming for infants, toddlers, pre-school and school-age children, administration, childcare regulations and more. Once you are accepted into the Early Childhood Education Program, you will be sent a registration form where you will be able to register for your individual class(es).

The ECE Certificate of Achievement – Successful completion of 3 courses will qualify you to apply for Level I certification. Level I certification is the minimum required to work 65 hours or more per month in a childcare centre. All courses are delivered in the evening. Plus, if you are a high school student while taking this program, you can earn dual credits. Courses offered in 2026 – 2027 are:

Admission Requirements

ECE Diploma:
This program follows a First Qualified, First Admitted process. You'll need Grade 12 with English Language Arts A30 and English Language Arts B30 and meet the English Language Requirement.

If you do not meet the above academic requirements please meet with a College Advisor to discuss special admission options, including ACCUPLACER.

You'll also need to provide evidence of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check prior to entering required coursework with children. At the discretion of the practicum agency, you may be declined access to a clinical or work placement based on the contents of the Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. If you do not complete the practicums, you will not graduate from the program. The cost of the Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is your responsibility.
